Danan Road is located in Yuexiu District, Guangzhou. It runs east-west, connecting Beijing Road in the east and Guangzhou Uprising Road in the west. It is about 294 meters long and about 12.2 meters wide. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, the Guangzhou city wall passed through here. After the city wall was demolished in 1920, it was rebuilt into a road. It is named Danan Road after the ‘Danan Gate’ at the east end of the road. The western section of Danan Road is a well-known flower street, while the middle and eastern sections have more stores dealing in decoration and lighting. Due to being less affected by old city renovation, Danan Road has better protection for arcade houses and other structures, so the historical features of this road are well preserved.
