Chaonan District at the foot of Dananshan Mountain in Shantou City is one of the revolutionary bases during the Agrarian Revolutionary War in China. Especially where Hongchang Town is located, it is an important propaganda and practice base for patriotic education activities carried out by primary and secondary schools in Shantou City. Hongchang Town was originally named Shichuan Town. In 1961, it was renamed Hongchang Town in memory of the revolutionary site ‘Hongchang’, symbolizing the glorious revolutionary history that took place here. As early as 1928, Hongchang was already an important revolutionary base in Dongjiang. Many revolutionary pioneers successively lit the revolutionary flames at locations such as Hongchang and Leiling and established revolutionary bases. The current revolutionary sites, Hongchang, Honggong, and stone-carved revolutionary slogans have all been listed as key protected revolutionary cultural relics in Guangdong Province. The Dananshan Revolutionary History Memorial Hall has also been designated as a patriotic education base by Shantou City. Open all year round, open all day.
