Dance Poem Drama ‘Only This Cyan’ is a performance in the genre of ‘poetic drama,’ structured around chapters such as ‘Unfolding the Scroll,’ ‘Inquiring about Seal Script,’ ‘Singing Silk,’ ‘Seeking Stones,’ ‘Practicing Brush,’ ‘Tempering Ink,’ and ‘Entering the Painting.’ The audience will follow the perspective of a modern-day Forbidden City researcher, the Scroll Unfolder, as they immerse themselves in the legendary Chinese traditional aesthetic charm. The narrative structure of the entire play is a blend of time and space. The plot unfolds at the time when ‘A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains’ is about to be exhibited in reality, and also when the young painter Xi Meng was about to complete the painting a thousand years ago. Due to the Scroll Unfolder’s deep study of ‘A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains,’ they enter Xi Meng’s inner world, accompanying him through the precious time of painstakingly creating the painting, forming a deep connection with this ‘genius youth’ recorded only in a few words, exploring the accidental and inevitable aspects of ‘A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains’ ‘striding alone for a thousand years,’ and understanding the emotional connection between national treasures and modern people. On stage, a richly layered painting-like scene will be depicted: a bright moon shines over a thousand years, with the Scroll Unfolder and Xi Meng gazing at each other under the moonlight; the diligent cultural workers of the Forbidden City Museum and the hardworking ancient craftsmen together form a harmonious cultural painting. Open from December 13th to December 15th, Friday to Sunday, with a performance duration of 120 minutes (including a 15-minute intermission).
