The Dapeng Fortress was built in the 27th year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1394 AD). It was a coastal defense military fortress in southern China during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Shenzhen is now known as the ‘Pengcheng’, which comes from here. In the Ming Dynasty, many well-known generals emerged here, such as General Liu Zhong with military strategy and the Lai family’s ‘five generals in three generations’. Therefore, it also has the reputation of ‘General Village’. Today’s Dapeng Fortress still retains antique city gates, city towers, ancient streets and ancient dwellings. Here, you can see many former generals’ mansions and cultural relics related to coastal defense and military affairs. It is a good place to learn about modern military history.
It is open all day throughout the year.
