Dapeng Peninsula is home to the picturesque and elegant Dapeng Mountain, surrounded by the sea on three sides and composed of seven distinctive peaks. Among them, the taller Qi Niang Mountain is characterized by ancient volcanic relics and coastal landforms. The geological heritage landscape is primarily centered around ancient volcanic relics and coastal landforms, complemented by typical volcanic rock sections, paleontological sites (including ancient cultural sites), fault fold structures, waterfalls, geological collapse relics, and undersea coral reefs. Approximately 135 million years ago, during the Late Jurassic period, the Pacific Plate subducted beneath the Eurasian Plate, with Shenzhen located at the edge of the continental plate where large-scale volcanic eruptions occurred, leaving behind numerous ancient volcanic geological relics. The ecological environment underwent significant changes at that time. 65 million years ago, after the Late Cretaceous, the Pacific Plate collided with the Eurasian Plate, following the Himalayan orogeny. The South China Sea basin expanded and separated from the Hong Kong landmass. Between 18,300 and 38,400 years ago, during the Late Pleistocene and the Holocene, two marine incursions occurred, with the coastline subjected to long-term hydrodynamic forces, constantly eroding and carving out many peculiar marine accumulation and erosion landform landscapes. The mountain is open all year round from 9:00 to 16:30.
