The Sangpu Mountain Scenic Area is located about 20 kilometers southwest of Chaozhou City. With a height of more than 600 meters and a circumference of about 27 kilometers, it is named after its once abundant mulberry trees. The mountain has jagged rocks and lush forests, and is filled with rock caves overhung by huge boulders and grotesque stone forests. The landscapes include the ancient temple Gantuo Temple with a 700-square-meter boulder as a natural roof; there are Zhongli Cave, Li Gu Cave, etc.; there is a mushroom-shaped stone forest showing ancient marine erosion landforms, as well as the tombs of Chaozhou’s famous virtuous person Lin Daqin and his mother-in-law. A new Tropic of Cancer marker tower is erected at the southern foot of the mountain. At the eastern foot of the mountain is Dongshan Lake, surrounded by mountains on three sides and divided into large and small West Lakes. There are abundant hot spring and mineral spring resources scattered along the lakeside. Opening hours: Not open to the public.
