Daxiong Temple in Liangzhu, Hangzhou, was originally built during the Eastern Han Dynasty. However, it was demolished in 1958 due to the construction of the ‘Liangzhu Commune Exhibition Hall’ which required materials.
In October 1999, the temple was reconstructed by the nun Master Miaole through fundraising. The first phase of the project was implemented in April 2000.
The temple was built according to its original design with three main structures: the Hall of the Heavenly Kings, the Mahavira Hall, and the Hall of the Three Saints, as well as auxiliary rooms, which have now been completed.
Among the buildings that have taken shape are the Hall of the Heavenly Kings, Mahavira Hall, Samsara Hall, Guanyin Hall, Bell Tower, Abbot’s Courtyard, Refectory, and Utensil Room.
Beside the temple, there was originally a magnolia tree with two-colored flowers. At the foot of the mountain, there is a release pond with tailless snails that can be touched by hand.
The opening hours and specific business status are subject to the daily opening conditions.
