The Dayang Reservoir is located in a high mountain canyon 35 kilometers southeast of Jinyun County. It was built in the early 1970s. It is 850 meters above sea level. The reservoir is 180 meters long and 46 meters deep. The blue waves in the dam are vast. The surrounding peaks are majestic. The dense shade all over the mountain forms a circular forest sea. In the Panxi Basin downstream of the reservoir, there are deep ravines of a hundred feet, and the mountains on both sides are stacked.
Connected to the Panxi Basin are six cascade power stations. Cars can reach the dam. The dam locks the canyon and cuts off the turbulent Panxi River. The Dayang Reservoir uses the natural drop of 660 meters downstream of the reservoir for cascade power generation. Several steep peaks have been drilled through from top to bottom, and a diversion canal more than 20 li long has been built. Six power stations have been built, connecting the upper and lower six-level power stations in a line, which is magnificent. Hunting in Dayang: Surrounding the reservoir are more than 6,600 mu of mountain forests. The grass is deep and the trees are dense and lush. Many wild animals often appear here. What is more interesting about hunting here is driving muntjacs. After the heavy snow in winter, muntjacs are extremely hungry and rush around looking for food. There are often small beasts such as badgers and raccoon dogs in the reservoir area. Wild boars often appear in the mountains and forests. A relatively safe way is to capture them with traps and poisoned explosives. Fishing in Dayang: Due to the lush forests and clear water in the reservoir area, there is not very rich bait in the water, which makes the fish extremely greedy; they bite the hook fiercely. From late spring to late autumn is a good fishing season. Catching a big fish weighing several kilograms or even more than ten kilograms is no longer rare. If you don’t mind small ones, fishing in shallow water with a rod can also return with a full load.
