Dazhangxi River, a significant tributary of the Minjiang River in central Fujian Province, China, originates from the Daiyun Mountain in Chishui Town, Dehua County. The source is known as Guobaoxi. From Dehua to Nancheng, it is called Chanxi, and below Nancheng, it is named Dazhangxi. The river is joined by several tributaries such as Houtingxi and Tongguanxi. It flows into the downstream Nan Port of Minjiang River at Jiangkou in Minhou County.
The Dazhangxi River basin covers an area of 4,843 square kilometers, with a river length of 234 kilometers (some sources say 231 kilometers) and an average river gradient of 2.1‰. Historically, it has served as the primary waterway for three counties along its banks to communicate with the Minjiang River and surrounding areas, as well as for access to the sea. The basin is rich in hydropower resources. Numerous water diversion projects have been constructed on the main and tributary streams throughout history. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, a large number of reservoirs and power stations were built. Notably, the Longmen Beach Water Diversion Power Generation Project, located in Shuoru Village, Xiabi Township, is an inter-basin water diversion, cascade power generation, and comprehensive utilization project. It has provided important conditions for the economic and social development of the local area. The opening hours and business status are subject to the actual opening conditions on the day.Dazhangxi River: A Vital Waterway in Central Fujian
