Dazhu Island belongs to Jingfeng Town, Hui’an County, Quanzhou City, Fujian Province. It is 5 nautical miles away from Ducuo Wharf in Ducuo Village, Jingfeng Town. The island covers an area of about 0.62 square kilometers and has an altitude of 85.7 meters. The main channel of Meizhou Bay lies on both sides of it.
Dazhu Island is oval in shape. The east peak resembles an elephant, the middle peak looks like a lion, and the west peak is very much like the Monkey King presenting a treasure. In the early days, there were many bamboo plants growing on the island, and it is larger than Xiaozhu Island, so it is called “Dazhu Island”.

Dazhu Island was once a heroic island. There is a stone cave in a hidden place on the halfway up the mountain. The entrance of the cave has been repaired and only allows one person to enter and exit. This stone cave is the place where the “Eight Girls Crossed the Sea to Conquer the Deserted Island” once lived.

There is a three-story building on the mountainside depression in the south of Dazhu Island. This building was an office building built by a company here in the early 1980s when the local area was planning to develop this small island. The small building is like the teaching buildings commonly seen in rural primary schools in the past. After going up the middle staircase, there are three rooms on each side. However, this three-story small building has been idle for many years and is somewhat dilapidated. The island owner lives in a row of bungalows beside the main building. There are three rooms. The outer room is a bedroom, the middle one is a kitchen, and the inner room is for storing things.
