Located in a mountain stream on the north side of the main peak of Dazhu Mountain, there is an ancient temple named Shimen Temple, which has been standing for over 1500 years. It was Emperor Taizong of Tang, Li Shimin, who once decreed its reconstruction. The temple once housed structures such as the Mahavira Hall, Heavenly Kings Hall, Bell Tower, Drum Tower, and eastern and western corridors.

Beneath the giant rock on the right side of the stone gate lies a clear spring, the water of which is as jade-like as jade, named Yuquan. Hence, people also refer to Shimen Temple as Yuquan Temple. Later, the Mahavira Hall of Shimen Temple and the tomb tower forest were reconstructed.

The environment surrounding Shimen Temple is extremely beautiful. In front of the temple, there is a murmuring stream, and beside the stream lies the Elephant Stone. A little further away, several peaks stand elegantly. The ‘Lion Peak’ to the east of the temple, the ‘Sitting Guanyin’, ‘Monk and Taoist Playing Chess’, and ‘Pigsy Carrying His Wife’ on the western peak, and the ‘Eminent Monk Preaching’ to the south of the temple, all are vividly lifelike. To the east of the temple lies the Dazhu Mountain Reservoir.

A clear lake surrounds the ancient temple, making it appear more spiritual and elegant. Tourists here can fish with a rod, catching fish in the water and also the reflections of the mountains and clouds. The temple is open from 06:30 to 17:30, every day from January 1st to December 31st.
