DeYunShe was founded by cross talk actor Guo Degang in 1995. Its purpose is to ‘let cross talk return to the theater’ and do’real cross talk’. On July 3, 2011, DeYunShe opened up a new form in the Beijing Exhibition Theater. By mixing drama and cross talk, it presented cross talks of various styles from the Qing Dynasty to after the founding of New China for the audience.
Guo Degang was born in Tianjin in 1973. He has been fond of folk art since childhood. At the age of 8, he entered the art field. First, he studied storytelling under the senior storyteller Gao Qinghai. Later, he studied cross talk under the famous cross talk actor Chang Baofeng and received guidance and teaching from many famous cross talk actors. In the meantime, he concentrated on learning Peking Opera, Pingju Opera, Hebei Bangzi and other types of operas. Wandering in the theater world, he played civil buffoon and copper hammer roles, which played a very important role in enriching his cross talk performance. Through borrowing from various art forms, he has formed his own style. ‘Tavern flags, drama drums, and Tianqiao market. How many tourists do not miss home.’ This is a true portrayal of the old Tianqiao in Beijing. Today’s ‘Beijing DeYunShe Theatre’ can also let you feel the market culture of the ancient capital again and enjoy all kinds of folk traditional arts.
