The Deng Shichang Memorial Hall was established in 1994 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Deng Shichang’s martyrdom. The hall is located in the Deng’s Ancestral Hall, which was originally built in 1834 and later expanded with the compensation money from Deng Shichang’s martyrdom, becoming a typical Lingnan-style ancestral hall building with three routes, two progresses, three courtyards, and two side rooms, covering an area of 4700 square meters.

The main hall, side rooms, and attached halls have been converted into exhibition rooms. The main hall and side rooms feature the historical display of ‘Deng Shichang and the Battle of the Yellow Sea’, exhibiting over 200 artifacts, photos, documents, models, sculptures, and wax figures, providing a detailed account of Deng Shichang’s life and deeds.

The attached hall on the east side hosts the ‘Century of Chinese Warships’ photo exhibition, displaying over 100 images and some models of various warships from different historical periods in China after the Battle of the Yellow Sea, reflecting the reconstruction and setbacks of the Chinese Navy over the past century since the annihilation of the Beiyang Fleet.

The hall is open year-round from Tuesday to Friday, 09:00-17:00; and on Saturdays and Sundays, 09:00-16:30.
