Deqing Geospatial Information Town is situated in the Deqing Mogan Mountain National High-tech Zone in Huzhou. The town’s boundaries stretch from Yuping Road in the east to Yingxi South Road in the west, and from Tashan Street in the north to Dongqiao Street in the south. It covers a total area of 3.68 square kilometers, with a core area measuring 1.31 square kilometers.
The town is committed to four major principles: ‘industry as the foundation, culture as the pulse, integration of production and scenery, and intelligent innovation.’ It focuses on six key areas: ‘infrastructure, supporting functions, service quality, tourism environment, scenic business, and industry interaction.’ The goal is to establish an international-level geospatial information science and education scenic area. This area would integrate the gathering of geospatial information enterprises, innovation in geospatial technology, display and exchange of geospatial technology, interactive and touristic experiences in geographic science popularization, and functions such as geospatial life and conference exhibitions.
In December 2019, the Geospatial Information Town achieved the prestigious national 4A-level tourist attraction status. As a distinctive scenic area of a science and technology town, it showcases the display, experience, application, and popular science interaction of geospatial information technology. The town is dedicated to exploring the unique characteristics of the geospatial information industry.
The themed tour route of the town includes several key attractions: the Visitor Center, Deqing International Exhibition Center, Deqing International Conference Center, Deqing Grand Theater, cinema commercial street, Geospatial Information Technology Museum, town characteristic street, Guoyao Satellite Sky Garden, and Unmanned Technology Theme Park.The town has collaborated with several distinctive geospatial information enterprises within the scenic area, such as Zhongce Xingtu, Zhengyuan Geography, and Changguang Satellite. It has developed unique experience products and business forms, including geospatial science and education, geospatial enterprise sightseeing, interactive experiences with geospatial technology, development and display of geospatial cultural and creative products, unmanned technology experience, and UAV parent-child experiences.
The scenic area integrates projects such as the Geospatial Technology Museum, International Conference and Exhibition Center, and Zhejiang Guoyao. It actively develops geospatial science and education tourism products. It serves as a study travel base in Huzhou City and aims to become a provincial-level study base. Two new iconic sculptures for the scenic area, ‘Xiaoqing’ and ‘Geospatial Sky Eye,’ have been added, along with 11 new urban cultural leisure facilities.
The town has introduced unmanned vehicle experience products. It has deployed five unmanned vending vehicles for tourists to experience and three unmanned vehicles for circular sightseeing within the town. The intelligent scenic area ticket management system has been improved. In collaboration with surrounding general aviation town resources and distinctive geospatial information enterprises within the town, features such as UAV parent-child experience centers and general aviation aircraft parking aprons have been set up.An International Exhibition Center book corridor experience point has been established. This initiative has fostered cooperation with technology companies and cultural tourism enterprises, leading to the collection and development of tourism products and souvenirs that showcase the unique characteristics of the geospatial information town and Deqing region. These items are scientifically and reasonably arranged in the ‘Geospatial Gift’ shopping exhibition area of the Visitor Center.
The commercial center boasts Ocean City and Yintai Trade City, offering over 20 dining options, including the Fengqi Hotel and Mitao Li. For accommodation, there are hotels such as Atour, Novotel, and Radisson. The park has identified and developed 17 scenic spots and enterprises, selecting six high-quality enterprises as characteristic scenic spots. Efforts are being made to develop cultural and creative products and construct characteristic tour routes.
