The Desert Plant Area began its construction in 1992 and, after three years of effort, was officially opened to the public in October 1995. Covering an area of over 10,000 square meters, it primarily consists of three major exhibition greenhouses and three production and breeding conservation rooms. Over more than a decade, through the relentless efforts of professionals, it has evolved from nothing to a collection of over 1,126 varieties of succulent plants from 23 different families, including Cactaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Crassulaceae, Apocynaceae, Liliaceae, Aloeaceae, Amaryllidaceae, Bombacaceae, Palmae, Asteraceae, Lamiaceae, Bromeliaceae, Agavaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Portulacaceae, Moraceae, Asclepiadaceae, Dioscoreaceae, Piperaceae, Poaceae, Malvaceae, Passifloraceae, Caricaceae, and Papaya family.

The three exhibition greenhouses are mainly composed of the Americas Pavilion, Asia Pavilion, and Africa Pavilion. The Americas Pavilion is home to over 600 varieties of cacti, including various spherical plants, tall and straight columnar types, delicate and tender Epiphyllum, and tree-like cacti. The best time to visit this area is from June to October, which is the flowering season for cacti, with flowers in various colors such as red, yellow, blue, white, and purple, making it particularly delightful.

The Asia Pavilion features over 140 varieties of Aloeaceae plants, with the best viewing period from October to December. The Africa Pavilion houses over 300 varieties of root and tuber plants. The area is open all year round and accessible 24/7.
