Colorful Beach is located on the east coast of Weizhou Island. There is no clean white sand beach here. Instead, there are black sands ground from shells and volcanic rocks. It is also called Sesame Beach because it resembles sesame. Here, you can see rare geological landscapes of marine erosion cliffs, marine erosion platforms, and marine erosion caves in China. Compared with the volcanic landscape of Crocodile Mountain, this place is even more shocking. The 1.5-kilometer-long coast in the Colorful Beach scenic area is covered with marine erosion cliffs 20 to 50 meters high. The cliff faces stand tall and are magnificent.
Walking down to the beach from the entrance and not far to the left is the huge marine erosion platform on the island. These platforms are spread out in front of the marine erosion cliffs, flat and wide. At low tide, the platform can be hundreds of meters wide, which is very spectacular. It is recommended to visit Colorful Beach at low tide. Only at this time can you see these magical geological landscapes.
After enjoying the beautiful scenery, don’t forget to eat barbecue by the sea. There are rich varieties here, including scallops, oysters, abalone, and so on. The key is that the price is cheap and it is extremely delicious. In addition, Colorful Beach is the place to watch the sunrise over the sea on Weizhou Island. However, due to the large climate changes on the island, the proportion of seeing the sunrise is less than one-tenth. Especially in autumn and winter, when the island is foggy, it is even more difficult to see the moment when the sun jumps out of the sea. Even so, many tourists still arrive here in advance according to the predicted sunrise time, looking forward to the arrival of the goddess of luck.
