Dong’e Yao Wang Mountain is located within the Dong’e Cao Zhi Park and is now a national AAAA-level scenic area, representing the restored and reconstructed ancient landscape of Dong’e. It is a sacred mountain and a blessed land, where the incense flames are strong and visitors are as numerous as threads. Many people come here to worship devoutly, seeking blessings and longevity, and it is very effective.
The scenery here is beautiful and the place is full of spiritual and outstanding features, including the mythical Luoshen Lake and the ‘Divine Mountain’ as named by Emperor Qianlong. Scholars and poets linger here, and Cao Zhi, a talented poet, left behind his famous poem about Luoshen. To the west of Yao Wang Mountain lies the Dong’e Ejiao Health Culture Garden, and to the east is the shimmering Luoshen Lake. The mountain features the ‘Four Great Halls’ of Yao Wang Hall, Guanyin Hall, God of Wealth Hall, and Dragon King Temple, as well as Yao Wang Pavilion, Wanshou Road, Bell and Drum Towers, Fushou Terrace, and other attractions. There are over 30 statues of deities such as the Dropwater Guanyin, Thinking Bodhisattva, Apricot Forest Spring Warmth, and the Suspended Pot to Save the World, along with 322 stone carving artworks including Yao Wang story panels, Fushou cultural panels, and Ejiao culture steles. Additionally, there are more than 300 species of medicinal and ornamental plants such as forsythia, peony, and Chinese herbaceous peony, which are highly ornamental and educational. Stone carvings, statues, materials, couplets, and plaques are known as the ‘Five Uniques’ of Dong’e Yao Wang Mountain.
Historically, Dong’e Yao Wang Mountain has been a famous mountain in Western Shandong and a renowned landscape in the border area of Shanxi, Hebei, Shandong, and Henan, with numerous cultural relics and a profound cultural heritage. Many scholars and literati have left behind their calligraphy and poetry, and Kangxi and Qianlong also visited multiple times during their southern tours. The mountain mainly enshrines the Medicine Buddha and the Eight Great Medicine Kings, as well as the Child-Giving Guanyin, God of Wealth, Wenchang God, Eye Light Granny, Dragon King, and other deities, totaling more than 30, embodying the people’s good wishes for health and well-being. There is a saying among the people, ‘For blessings, longevity, and peace, please come to Dong’e Yao Wang Mountain.’
Opening hours are from 08:00 to 17:00 all year round. Preferential policies include: Children: Free for those under 6 years old (inclusive) or under 1.4 meters (inclusive) in height; half price for minors aged 6 (exclusive) to 18 (exclusive) years old. Military personnel: Free for active-duty soldiers. Disabled persons: Severely disabled persons including one accompanying person, free. Students: Half price for full-time undergraduate and below students. High-level talents: Free with ‘Shandong Talent Card’. Retired military cadres: Free with valid military retirement identification. Elderly: Free for those aged 70 years old (inclusive) and above with an elderly card or ID; half price for those aged 60 years old (inclusive) to 70 years old (exclusive) with an elderly card or ID.
