Dongguan Museum is the only local comprehensive museum and a national second-level museum in Dongguan City. It is under the Dongguan Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Press and Publication. The audience open area of Dongguan Museum includes the basic exhibition area, thematic exhibition area and temporary exhibition area. The first floor is the temporary exhibition area. The second floor is the thematic exhibition area, where collections or various high-quality exhibitions are regularly displayed, reproducing Dongguan’s 5,000-year civilization and long history.


There are currently 8,395 pieces (sets) of collections, totaling 13,163 items. Among them, there are 18 pieces (sets) of first-level cultural relics, 85 pieces (sets) of second-level cultural relics, and 977 pieces (sets) of third-level cultural relics. In particular, it is characterized by collecting works of famous Guangdong painters and schools from the Ming and Qing Dynasties and modern times such as Ju Lian, Ju Chao, Lingnan School of Painting, and Traditional Chinese Painting Research Association.


The collections include both underground cultural relics obtained through archaeological excavations and above-ground cultural relics such as the large bronze bell of Zifu Temple in the Yuan Dynasty and the Elephant Tower of the Southern Han Dynasty collected through acquisition. There are also precious cultural relics donated by the Palace Museum. The calligraphy and painting collections are more extensive, especially featuring the collection of works of famous Guangdong painters and schools from the Ming and Qing Dynasties and modern times such as Zhang Mu, Ju Lian, Ju Chao, Deng Bai, Lu Zishu, Lingnan School of Painting, and Traditional Chinese Painting Research Association.


Opening hours: Open from Tuesday to Sunday throughout the year from 09:00 to 17:15; closed all day on Monday throughout the year; open from 08:45 to 17:30 throughout the year.
