The Phoenix Mountain Golf Course was transformed from five abandoned quarries. After the massive pits were filled in, the towering cliffs still remain, with exposed reddish-brown boulders, exuding a wild nature. The large lychee orchards and eucalyptus trees covering the mountain were present before the construction of the golf course and have remained largely unchanged. The golf course is also home to many bird species, and occasionally, flocks can be seen playing on the fairways, inhabiting this ecological garden. The golf carts travel over the undulating terrain, providing a roller coaster-like sensation. On steep slopes, it is not safe for caddies to stand behind the carts, so they must walk. Overall, this mountainous golf course is steeper than the Kowloon Mountain Golf Course, with some holes comparable to the very steep ones in Yunxia Valley, with a single-hole drop of more than twenty meters. The 10th hole is a particularly distinctive one, with the green situated atop a small peak, resembling an isolated island. A shot that is too long or too short, or slightly to the right, will cause the ball to roll down the hillside and disappear. Despite its high difficulty, from the green, one can overlook the panoramic view of Yan Tian City, with its layers of green mountains, truly embodying the phrase ‘the most beautiful scenery is at the most dangerous peaks.’ The course is open all year round from 06:00 to 19:30.
