Dongjing Mausoleum: A Historic Site in Liaoning, China

Dongjing Mausoleum is located in Dongjingling Village, Dongjingling Township, Taizihe District, Liaoyang City, and is designated as a provincial cultural relics protection unit.
It was once the royal ancestral mausoleum during the establishment of the Qing Dynasty’s ancestors in Liaoshen, holding significant importance in the history of the Qing Dynasty’s political development.

After Nurhaci, the Qing Taizu, moved the capital to Liaoyang, in the ninth year of the Tianming era (1624), he relocated the tombs of his grandfather, brother, and more than ten other relatives from Hetu Ala to the Yanglu Mountain, four miles northeast of Dongjing City, which became the ancestral mausoleum of the Later Jin Dynasty, hence the name “Dongjing Mausoleum”.

In the eleventh year of the Shunzhi era (1654), the tombs of Nurhaci’s grandfather’s generation were moved back to their original land in Hetu Ala City, where the Qing Yong Mausoleum is located.

The Dongjing Mausoleum currently houses four tombs of Nurhaci’s brother Shurhaci, his eldest son Chuying, his half-brother Murhaci, and his son达尔差.

The mausoleum complex includes structures such as enclosing walls, a mountain gate, and a stele pavilion.

The stele pavilion is well-preserved, located in front of Shurhaci’s tomb, and is a four-arch single-eave hip-gable building with a painted ceiling. Inside the pavilion stands a marble stele, “Zhuang Darhan Ba Tu Lu Qin Wang Bei,” inscribed in both Han and Manchu scripts, with clear characters and exquisite carvings.

The opening hours are from 08:00 to 18:00 all year round.
