Dongmaozhou Island is located about forty to fifty nautical miles east of Yongxing Island, covering an area of less than one square kilometer. The island is home to various species of birds, including boobies, terns, grey terns, and golden birds, making it a paradise for avian life and a key national nature reserve.
Composed of coral reefs, Dongmaozhou Island boasts dense vegetation, lush and verdant. On the southeast side, there is a small freshwater lagoon.
The island’s superior natural environment attracts a multitude of seabirds to roost, with approximately 60,000 seabirds residing on the island.
