Lijiang Beach, with its sea breeze and fishing lights, resonates with the leisurely songs of cultivating the sea and herding the fish; Baixi River, tranquil and rustic, exudes a rich pastoral agricultural charm, gentle and composed, enveloping all who approach; at the end, surrounded by green mountains and embraced by clear waters. Here lies Dongping, a historical and cultural village known as ‘A Village in Chinese Painting’, which was designated by Zhejiang Province in 2012 as one of the first batch of historical and cultural villages for protection and utilization. Dongping Village is named after the Dongkeng Mountain to the east of the village, which resembles a screen, hence the name ‘Dongping’. Within the village, a small stream divides the residences in half, with three stone arch bridges above. Observing from the top of the screen mountain, one can witness the peculiar sight of the bridge surfaces seemingly towering above the houses beside them (considered auspicious feng shui). The streets follow the stream upwards, and houses are built according to the terrain, forming a Siheyuan architectural style. Open all year round, accessible 24/7.
