Dongshan Academy

Dongshan Academy is one of the ancient academies in Meizhou. It was founded by Wang Zhefu in 1746, the 11th year of Emperor Qianlong’s reign in the Qing Dynasty. Dongshan Academy has a building structure of ‘three entrances and two transverse halls’. It absorbs the freshness of Zhouxi River in front and is backed by the spiritual beauty of Dongshan Ji. It is adjacent to the colorful Zhuangyuan Bridge. From the ancient academy to the present Dongshan Middle School, it is in the same line with continuous music and singing. It is a microcosm of the development history of education in Meizhou.
