Dongshan National Forest Park in Liangping County, Chongqing, boasts pristine clear waters, enchanting scenery, and a pleasant climate. The scenic resources are characterized by the low mountain forest landscape and karst geological landforms. The park is densely populated with caves, which are magical and distinctive; the integrated landscape of mountains and waters is prominent; it integrates mountains, waters, towers, forests, gorges, and caves, possessing the styles of ‘majestic, peculiar, beautiful, serene, and wild’. Dongshan National Forest Park was approved as a national forest park by the State Forestry Administration in October 2001. The park is located in the northeast of Chongqing, southeast of Liangping County, 7 kilometers from the county town, 60 kilometers from the main urban area of Wanzhou, and 180 kilometers from the main urban area of Chongqing. It has a very obvious geographical and regional advantage. The transportation network is highly developed, with National Highway 318 passing through the forest park, and the Chongqing-Wanzhou Expressway and the Dazhou-Wanzhou Railway passing by. It is 10 kilometers away from the west Buddhist ancestral court – Shuanggui Hall, and is a hot spot on the Three Gorges tourism circuit and the midpoint of the Chongqing-Wanzhou tourism golden corridor. The park covers an area of 3780 hectares and has more than 40 distinctive landscapes. The forest park is rich in vegetation, with a variety of species, and also has various rare birds and animals, which have a very high ornamental value and scientific educational value. The park is open all year round, 24/7.
