Dongshan Scenic Area

The Dongshan Scenic Area is located on the east bank of the middle reaches of the Cao’e River. It is the place where Xie An, a statesman in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, lived in seclusion. It is also the location of the famous temple, Guoqing Temple. The idiom ‘make a comeback’ originated here. In the scenic area, there are still relics such as Xie An’s tomb, tombstone, Xijichi (Washing Sandals Pond), and Qiangwei Cave. Among the mountains by the Dongshan River, there is a huge rock shaped like a finger, protruding westward towards the river. It is called ‘Dongshan Finger Rock’, which is a famous landscape of Dongshan. Under the rock are the fishing stone and Zhishitan where Xie An fished. The specific business hours and operating status are subject to the opening situation on that day.
