Doumu Palace is located to the north of Wanxianlou, historically known as ‘Longquan Guan’. The exact time of its establishment is unknown, but it was rebuilt during the 21st year of the Jiajing era of the Ming Dynasty and renamed to its current title. Originally a Taoist temple, in the early years of the Qing Dynasty, it was overseen by nuns and dedicated to the mother of the Big Dipper stars, hence the name Doumu Palace. The palace consists of dozens of halls, pavilions, and corridors spread across three courtyards, with a layout that is both spacious and dense, and the architecture is profound and solemn.
To the east, there are three rooms called ‘Listening to the Spring Mountain House’, where one can enjoy the ‘Three Cascades of Zhongxi’.
Outside the western mountain gate, there is an ancient locust tree with huge branches lying on the ground, resembling a dragon lying down with its head raised, commonly known as the ‘Dragon Locust’.
