Duan Tou Zhou, also referred to as Zhan Jing Zhou, is a natural wonder formed by the relentless erosion of seawater over time. This process creates sea caves, and as water continues to drip and wear away at the stone, the stone mountain eventually splits apart. The result is a flat passage, approximately three meters wide, that runs through the mountain.
The name “Zhan Jing Zhou” evokes a sense of myth and legend, as if a giant had swung a sharp sword, slicing the rocky shore in two. This dramatic imagery adds a layer of enchantment to the natural phenomenon.
Furthermore, Duan Tou Zhou is situated at a wind gap, a location where the wind is notably strong. This wind carries with it the distinct, salty aroma of the sea. During the sweltering heat of summer, seeking refuge in this spot provides a natural respite, offering a cool and refreshing escape from the oppressive heat.
