From 1929 to 1930, Baoxing New Street and Duobao Street were expanded into roads and named Duobao Road. The origin of ‘Duobao’ is that Chen Huaxi, the governor of Anhui Province, was a lesser protector of the crown prince in the Qing Dynasty. He built buildings in this area. People unanimously recommended him to name this area, which was named ‘Duobao’. In 1966, Shimin Road on its west and the east of Ruyifang were merged into this road. During the Cultural Revolution, Duobao Road was once named ‘Xinfeng Road’ and regained its original name in 1982.
