Duxu’ao Village, nestled behind a series of overlapping mountains, is a place where no other villages are found nearby. The village is surrounded by vast bamboo forests, as expansive as the sea, and interspersed with streams that provide an abundance of water. This water cascades directly into the village, originating from the spring of Wulongtan.

Wulongtan, located five miles from the village, is situated in the valley of Du Xu Village’s Double Stone Gate. It is composed of three jade-basin-like stone pools. The water surges and splashes, deep and bottomless, with cliffs and precipices on the sides. Ancient towering trees and layers of emerald bamboo never see sunlight, creating a serene environment. Due to the limited light, the pool surface is dark, hence the name Wulongtan.

Originally, as recorded in ancient texts, Wulongtan was composed of three pools of varying sizes: ‘Wulongtan consists of three pools, the middle and upper pools are hundreds of feet high, while the lower pool is relatively flat.’ Today, only one pool is visible. The pool water splits into five streams flowing forcefully down from the crevices of huge boulders, akin to a silver-forged harp being played day and night.

Every year on the first day of June, the Wulongtan Temple Fair is a very lively day in Du Xu, marking the birthday of the legendary Wulong Master, filled with mythological colors. The Wulongtan deep in the mountains is mysterious and beautiful, with three crystal-clear pools giving a refreshing feeling that permeates the heart. Surrounding temples are crowded with people, with thriving incense, and devout people from all directions come to make wishes and pray for the safety of their families.Wulongtan has too many different versions of legends among the people. Visiting Wulongtan on a summer day allows you to feel the hidden coolness in the deep mountains and listen to the wonderful legends told by the elderly by the pool. It is a perfect journey for relaxation of both body and mind. Wulongtan is open all year round, 24 hours a day. Specific business status is subject to the day’s opening conditions.
