Donghu Park, originally known as Binhai Park, was established in 1959, named for its location on the coast of the South China Sea.

Over time, the park became known as Donghu Park due to the presence of a lake within its grounds called Donghu. In 2002, Donghu Park underwent a renovation that saw the removal of old walls and the construction of a stone railing around the lake, the laying of square bricks and pedestrian paths, the planting of green lawns, the placement of landscape stones, and the addition of several distinctive attractions such as the Lady Xian Memorial Square, the Lake Heart Curved Bridge, pavilions, stone railings around the lake, a dance floor, a badminton hall, a green corridor, a water park, and a children’s playground.
