The Emperor Cave in Beihu integrates cultural and natural landscapes, She ethnic culture, natural forests, grand canyons, and lakes, forming a unique scenic area. It features 23 waterfalls and over 80 cultural and natural landscapes, with peculiar rocks and strange trees scattered throughout. The Emperor Cave is known for its typical Danxia landform in Fujian Province, with a natural waterfall group.

Although named a cave, it is actually a canyon that wins people’s hearts with its waterfalls. Formed by the erosion and cutting of Cretaceous volcanic rocks (rhyolitic crystal tuff) along faults and joints by running water, the canyon is a deep ‘V’ shaped feature, approximately 5 kilometers long with a height difference of over 400 meters. The canyon’s sides are steep and cliffs soar high, with the valley floor ranging from 10 to 30 meters wide.

The valley’s slope is significant, and the perennial flowing Feishui Stream meanders through the grand canyon, with shallow banks, deep pools, waterfalls, and flying springs visible at every turn. There are more than 20 waterfalls within the canyon, with a large drop of 76 meters, resembling water falling from the sky and the Milky Way pouring down. The waterfalls and pools are connected, creating a majestic scene.

The stream is filled with rugged rocks and interesting stone formations. The water is clear to the bottom, sometimes rushing and roaring, sometimes gently flowing in ripples. The banks are shaded by green trees, and the subtropical rainforest along the stream provides dense shade. Vines climb rocks and cling to trees, with exotic flowers and grass swaying in the wind, bees and butterflies flying, and birds chirping, making the landscape beautiful and radiating a strong natural charm.

The Beihu Reservoir at the Emperor Cave is the second-largest drinking water source and the largest artificial lake in Fuzhou City, located between Rixi Township in Jin’an District, Xiaoxiang Township in Lianjiang County, and Huokou Township in Luoyuan County. The water area is 6.8 square kilometers. Originally named Shanzi Reservoir, it is named Beihu because of its location in the northern peak, and also called Sheshan Lake because it flows through the Shejia Village.

The lake is surrounded by green mountains and bamboo, with egrets perched on branches, ancient dwellings scattered around, and the charm of the She ethnic culture, with the lake surface rippling with clear waves. The opening hours are from 08:30 to 17:30 all year round. For Turtle Mountain: entry time is 08:30, ticket sales end at 15:30, and the park closes at 17:30.
