Tianjin Yangliuqing New Year Picture Society

Established in 1958, Tianjin Yangliuqing New Year Picture Society produces Yangliuqing woodblock New Year paintings, which originated at the end of the Ming Dynasty and have a history of over 300 years. These paintings are distinctive in Chinese folk art for their combination of woodblock printing and manual coloring.


Since its establishment, the society has collected and organized more than 3,000 types of Yangliuqing New Year paintings, and has replicated and published approximately four to five hundred types. In addition to woodblock New Year paintings, the society also publishes offset New Year paintings, central hall paintings, and other paintings and photographic works, as well as various albums and art books, with several books receiving awards.


The society is open all year round from Tuesday to Sunday, 09:00 to 16:30; it is closed all day on Mondays.
