Yuantong Zen Temple is the main temple on Luojia Mountain. It is located on the flat ground at the top of the mountain. The temple was built during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. At that time, it was only a small Yuantong Nunnery. Although it is still not a large temple now, it is bustling with people and has prosperous incense. It has the charm of an ancient temple. Although the appearance of the temple is not astonishing, the main hall is richly decorated with carved beams and painted pillars and is resplendent. Inside the hall, there is a 3.3-meter-high gilded Guanyin seated statue made of desiccated clay. Guanyin holds a pure vase, her kind eyes shine everywhere, and her expression is serene. There are thirty-two responsive manifestations of Guanyin on the side of Guanyin. The east main hall is the Water Guanyin Hall, where a reclining Guanyin statue is enshrined. The stone-carved relief corridor wall is inlaid with stories about the Universal Door Chapter of Guanyin Bodhisattva, vividly showing the moving scene of Guanyin saving all living beings and attracting people to Buddhism. At the back of the temple, there is an ancient well made of stone, with the wellhead carved into the shape of a dragon head. The spring water flows out from the dragon’s mouth. Open all year round and all day. The specific business status is subject to the opening situation on that day.
