Located on the west side of Tai Mountain’s West Stream, Fan Zi Cliff is named for its towering and uniquely shaped peaks, resembling the spread of a fan.
The phrase ‘overlooking the secluded valley of ghosts, leaning against the towering height of the elder’ captures the grandeur and perilous nature of Fan Zi Cliff. Wu Cheng’en, the author of ‘Journey to the West’, was inspired by the scenery of Fan Zi Cliff during his journey to the capital for the imperial examination, incorporating many local features into his story. The iron fan of Princess Iron Fan, the original site of the Aolai Kingdom at Aolai Peak, as well as the Demon King Cave, the Lush Mountain Ridge, and the Stone Monkey Sea View are all derived from this place. The site is open year-round, 24 hours a day.Fan Zi Cliff
