Fanggan Ecological Tourism Area is located in the northwestern part of Laiwu City, Lu Ye Township, and the southeastern mountainous area of Jinan City. It is a convergence of natural landscapes such as mountains, water, forests, springs, pools, waterfalls, gorges, caves, and rocks. Every year from July to August, the ‘Fanggan Ecological Tourism Festival’ is held, where visitors can enjoy natural scenery and experience rural life and customs.
The main attractions of the Fanggan Tourism Area include the Nine Dragons Grand Canyon, Golden Tai Mountain, Shiyun Mountain, Tianmen Gorge, Peach Blossom Spring, Longevity Cliff, Sunrise Peak, and Lover’s Valley. The Nine Dragons Grand Canyon stretches 20 kilometers long, with ancient towering trees in the valley and steep peaks on both sides. Mountains, springs, pools, waterfalls, and caves are distributed throughout the canyon, maintaining their original appearance. Golden Tai Mountain has a majestic terrain, resembling Mount Tai, with landscapes such as Gongbei Stone, Luohan Stone, and Python Rock on the mountaintop. Golden Tai Mountain is surrounded by cliffs on three sides, with only the west side accessible. The ‘Sea-Piercing Stone’ on the mountaintop resembles a sharp sword thrusting into the sky, which is a landmark of Golden Tai Mountain. To the west of the Sea-Piercing Stone, there are four huge rocks stacked together, resembling a Luohan, hence the name ‘Three-Stacked Luohans’. There are also landscapes such as the Heart-Moving Stone and Python Rock on the mountaintop. Shiyun Mountain stands at an altitude of 860 meters, with a distribution of peculiar rocks and caves. The valley has formed a large area of smooth, round pebbles, including the ‘Lying Tiger Stone’ resembling a fierce tiger, the ‘Azure Dragon Stone’ resembling a dragon, and other stones like ‘Eagle Beak Stone’ and ‘Love Affair Stone’, all vividly shaped. Below the white rock, numerous caves have been formed by flood erosion, some as large as living rooms, some deep and unfathomable, and some interconnected. Among them, there is a large cave that penetrates the mountain. The mountaintop also has two huge rocks arranged on the left and right, with a 20-meter-wide path leading to the Sky Street, forming a natural stone gate inscribed with the word ‘Tianmen’, which is simple and solemn, blending seamlessly with the landscape. To the south of Shiyun Mountain, there are four ridges: Ling Ridge, Phoenix Ridge, Golden Turtle Ridge, and Buddha’s Light Ridge, and five valleys: Wind and Moon Valley, Qingyun Valley, Lying Tiger Valley, Panlong Valley, and Thunder Stream Valley. Tianmen Gorge is located on the northern slope of Shiyun Mountain, with crisscrossing valleys, including Lover’s Valley, Dragon and Phoenix Valley, Deer Singing Valley, and Butterfly Valley, along with distinctive landscapes such as the giant Dumpling Stone, Yuanbao Stone, and Flowerpot Stone. Opening hours are from 08:00 to 17:00 all year round. Preferential policies include free admission for children under 1.4 meters (inclusive) and seniors aged 70 and above with valid identification; discounts for seniors aged 60 to 69 with a senior citizen’s card or identification; free admission for disabled people with valid identification; free admission for active-duty soldiers with valid identification; free admission for tour guides with valid identification; and discounts for students with student cards.
