Feiquan Temple is located in Dongjie Village, Tingjiang Town, Mawei District. It is an ancient temple with a history of thousands of years and is famous in the area. According to the records in “San Shan Zhi” of the Chunxi period in the Song Dynasty and “Ba Min Tong Zhi” of the Hongzhi period in the Ming Dynasty, Feiquan Temple in Dongjie was first built in the first year of Wude in the Tang Dynasty (618 AD). It has a long history and is nearly a hundred years earlier than Yongquan Temple on Gushan Mountain.
The ancient buildings of the temple are of civil structure, surrounded by fireproof walls, looking solemn and majestic. There are two century-old towering litchi trees on the left and right of the temple patio. The tree shades block the sun, making the place quiet and elegant. It is one of the ancient temples with a long history within the ten counties. In 2005, it was listed as the eighth batch of district-level cultural relics protection units in Mawei District.

There is an ancient well in front of and behind Feiquan Temple respectively, which are two historical sites in the temple. According to the record in “San Shan Zhi”, “Feiquan Temple was built in the first year of Wude in the Tang Dynasty, and a circular earthen well was built behind the temple. The water quality is sweet and pure, and it is of top quality for brewing wine and making tea.” Due to years of disrepair and soil weathering, the inscriptions on the stone circular well curb are blurred. When Feiquan Temple was rebuilt in 2002, the ancient well was rebuilt into a hexagonal stone well.

In 2001, in order to rescue the millennium-old historical site and protect cultural relics, overseas Chinese and local sages in Dongjie held several fundraising meetings and rebuilt Feiquan Temple on the original site. After several years of hard work, the building complex of Feiquan Temple has been basically completed. Taking on a new look, it is built against the mountain. It has a Daxiong Baodian (Great Hero Hall), Guanyin Hall, Gongde Pavilion and Jinniushan Park, etc. Glittering in gold and magnificent, this millennium-old temple shines with new splendor.
