The Feitian Mountain-Cujiang Tourism Area is composed of the Feitian Mountain National Geopark, the Cujiang Riverbanks Scenic Belt, and the historical and cultural district of Wayaoping. Popular internet check-in spots such as Feitian Mountain, Ma Huangqiu Grand Canyon, Xianxian Village, Tiding Village, and Jiulong Water Village are all part of this area. The Dongjiang and Chenjiang rivers converge here, forming the renowned Cujiang River in Jiangnan. Located in Feitian Mountain National Geopark, 25 kilometers from the city, the entire Cujiang River basin starts from the Shimumian Cujiang Wharf in the north, extends to Xujia Cave Wharf in the south, and reaches the Damianzhou Wharf in Qiaokou Town in the east, running through the 48-square-kilometer Feitian Mountain National Geopark. The Cujiang Riverbanks feature layered rocks and towering strange stones, earning the reputation of ‘Little Guilin’. The ancient Buddha’s hanging coffin narrates a touching legend. Visitors can take a Cujiang cruise to experience the 6-kilometer waterway, immersed in the beautiful scenery of blue waters and Danxia landforms, enjoying views of Lion Mountain, Carp Playing in Water, Millennium Hanging Coffin, Xianxian Village, Tiding Village, and other picturesque scenes, as picturesque as poetry and painting. Feitian Mountain National Geopark, with its typical Danxia landform, is located in Su Xian District, Chenzhou City, Hunan Province, 18 kilometers from the city center, covering a total area of 110 square kilometers. The entire scenic area consists of 48 valleys, 9 villages, 4 flatlands, 3 temples, 2 rivers, and 1 spring. It is characterized by its Danxia villages, rare flatlands and caves, hot springs and blue rivers as the link, and the stone Buddha’s hanging coffin as the historical context, integrating mountains, water, forests, caves, and Buddha into one, and gathering grandeur, strangeness, danger, elegance, and ingenuity in one body. The historical and cultural district of Wayaoping has been a waterway transit point since the Han Dynasty, connecting Hengyang and Changsha to the north, and Shaoguan and Guangzhou to the south. The wharf has been bustling for at least two thousand years and is known as ‘Little Nanjing’. With the concept of ‘Following Xu Xiake’s path, tasting the blue water and Danxia’, the goal is to protect and rebuild a ‘cultural ancient town, commercial ancient ferry’. Adopting the idea of ‘restoring the old as old, building the new as old’, it aims to create an immersive historical and cultural ancient village with ‘ceramic culture’ and ‘ancient ferry culture’ as its core, integrating cultural experience, artistic creativity, educational research, fashion check-in, homestay vacation, and food experience, among other multi-format integrations. In the ancient street, there are characteristic folk customs of southern Hunan, ‘thousand-year smoke and fire, Chenzhou twelve workshops’ (rice workshop, pottery workshop, cast iron workshop, gold and silver workshop, Guanlan book workshop, Fucheng jade workshop, Jujing medicine workshop, Linglong tea workshop, Mangzu oil tea workshop, Queqiao immortal embroidery workshop, Wang’s tofu workshop, Jiahe inverted barrel wine workshop), and an immersive intangible cultural heritage town. By the river, there are 10 high-end characteristic homestays and 1 reception center integrated with the landscape, capable of accommodating hundreds of people. It recreates the prosperous scene of Wayaoping two thousand years ago, half of which is poetic and half is bustling with ancient town smoke and fire. On the ancient street, light gauze is hung, and red lanterns embellish the simple blue tile eaves, bringing the charm of the Ming and Qing small town to life. Opening hours are all year round from 08:30 to 17:30.
