The Feng Residence was originally constructed during the Ming Dynasty and belonged to the descendants of Feng Shuji, a regional governor of Huguang during the Jiajing reign. The existing structure was built in the late Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty and is a nationally designated cultural heritage site.
The Yu Residence, once a part of Feng Shuji’s former residence, was later sold to the Yu family. The current structure dates back to the early Qing Dynasty and is a city-level cultural heritage unit.
The Feng Yu Residence is one of the largest and well-preserved ancient architectural complexes in Ningbo City, reflecting the architectural style of Jiangnan in the early Qing period. In 2009, it received the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Conservation Award.
