Fengjian Water Village

Fengjian Water Village in Foshan is renowned as a gem of the Lingnan water towns, rivaling the famous water towns in Jiangnan. Known as the ‘Zhouzhuang of Guangdong’, this village is located at the northern end of Xingtan Town, with waterways around the village stretching over 10 kilometers and jurisdictional waterways totaling 28 kilometers. Tourists can enjoy boating through the clear waves, experiencing a sense of endless twists and turns.
Fengjian Water Village remains untouched by urban hustle and bustle, offering fresh and pleasant air that complements the ancient Lingnan village layout. Ancient houses and trees are interspersed along both banks, with stone-paved streets crisscrossing. Typically, only a few villagers pass by, evoking the poetic imagery of Tao Yuanming’s verses: ‘Rare are human affairs in the wilderness, few carriages in the deep lanes. The door of thorns is shut in daylight, the empty room is free from worldly thoughts.’ The village is open all year round, accessible 24 hours a day.
