Fuzhou, a city steeped in unique beauty and cultural heritage, offers a plethora of parent-child activities that not only foster emotional connections but also provide educational entertainment. For a two-day, one-night family tour, we recommend a break from the city’s hustle and bustle to return to nature and enjoy the tranquility of the countryside. Let’s embark on a Spring Festival trip!
**Euro Park Ocean World: A Marine Life Science Education Base**
Euro Park Ocean World is a popular check-in spot, a marine life science education base, and a natural ocean museum all rolled into one. A visit here is akin to experiencing ‘Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea’. It houses hundreds of rare marine creatures from the equatorial tropical rainforests to the polar regions, including ‘marine stars’ such as clownfish, dolphins, and beavers.
The vast aquarium tanks display the play of light and shadow, with a variety of jellyfish creating an incredibly dreamy scene. The underwater tunnel is a spectacle where sharks swim freely, and schools of migratory fish travel among the reefs. The tropical rainforest hall transports you to a mysterious and thrilling world with its tall and dense jungle and fierce crocodiles.
Shark Bay and Turtle Island each offer unique experiences, with parrots, ring-tailed lemurs, capybaras, and other adorable pets ready to greet you. The park is not only educational but also offers novel ways to play, including child-friendly ‘mermaid shows’ and ‘seal shows’ that are both entertaining and informative.

Plum blossoms are in full bloom, farmland joy, and the flowing spring scenery is extremely poetic.
After the rain, the temperature drops, and the distant mountains are obscured by clouds and fog, creating a hazy, fairyland-like atmosphere. **Exploring Yongyang Ancient City**
On the second day, take a leisurely walk around the village with the children. Everywhere you look, you’ll see white plum orchards in full bloom, with petals falling like a flurry. This serene setting provides a perfect end to your two-day family tour.Walking through the plum forests, you’ll find the fragrance intoxicating and refreshing, attracting many bees dancing among the flowers.
The villagers of Chun Guang are simple and the scenery is natural. There are many local specialties such as dried persimmons, green olives, chestnuts, and tea. Not far from Chun Guang Village is Bancheng Village, surrounded by numerous ancient paths. Along the banks, there are twelve ancient red banyan trees and a more than five-hundred-year-old elm tree. Together with the gurgling waters, they create a unique and beautiful landscape by the Da Zhangxi River – known as ‘Banyan Water Ballad’.
The villagers here have been boatmen for generations and have maintained the habit of living along the riverbank. However, the frequent floods in Da Zhangxi River often erode the banks. So the villagers plant banyan trees to use their extensive root systems to reinforce the banks. Additionally, the boatmen’s boats can be tied to these trees. Thus, for hundreds of years, these ancient banyan trees have been preserved.
Under the banyan trees is a serene place to enjoy the scenery. Sitting here, brewing a pot of tea and chatting with family is an excellent way to spend time. You can also take a slow boat ride along the river, watching the green mountains and white clouds on both banks. Taking a deep breath of the fresh air filling your lungs makes you feel extremely comfortable.
The gurgling waters flow over the fish-scale dam, creating a magnificent fish-scale waterfall where pedestrians can step across. It is a natural paradise for parent-child interaction.

In the afternoon, you can visit Yongtai Yongyang Ancient City. Yongyang Ancient City was first established in the third year of the Jiajing era of the Ming Dynasty and has a history of more than 490 years. After restoration, you can see the unique architectural techniques of Yongtai such as rammed earth walls, grass slurry bases, traditional carvings, and mountain wall tiles.
Here, you can experience the timeless flavor of Yongtai and the rich Fu culture, as well as the vicissitudes of time. There is a well in the ancient city that is more than 600 years old, called Xin’an Well. In May of the 38th year of the Jiajing era, after the Japanese pirates gathered more than a thousand people to plunder the Hongtang area of Fuzhou, they plundered the county along the Da Zhangxi River. At that time, there were no garrison troops in the city, and the city walls were dilapidated. The newly appointed Zhou Huan was determined to live or die with the city. He urged the people to repair the city walls while preparing for war. But after seven days of defending the city, he was outnumbered and the county fell. The county magistrate Zhou Huan was killed next to Xin’an Well, which is a story of loyalty and righteousness in both civil and military affairs.
Yangzhi Building is a cross-street wooden structure with a corridor house, standing in the middle of the street. Under Yangzhi Building, there are twenty-one steps, commonly known as the twenty-one steps. In front of Jingxing Academy, it is hoped that students will climb step by step. The culture of Yongtai’s top scholars is fully demonstrated here. It is said that in ancient times, scholars would climb the steps here, praying for progress at every step.
Jingxing Academy, the highest educational institution within the city, was named by the locals with the meaning of ‘looking up to the high mountains’, a name with profound implications. This is Jingxing Academy, founded during the Qianlong period by Wang Zuolin, the acting county magistrate of Yongfu. A ‘Three Zhuangyuan Archway’ stands at the entrance of the academy, commemorating the remarkable academic achievements of Xiao Guoliang, Zheng Qiao, and Huang Ding from Yongtai during the Song Dynasty, all of whom became top scholars within a span of seven years.
Continue to visit the historical and cultural exhibition halls next to the academy. Each venue has a historical story waiting for parents to bring their children to listen to.
