The First Emperor’s Temple is located on the sunny slope at the foot of Chengshan Peak. It was originally a temporary palace built by Emperor Qin Shi Huang when he toured Chengshantou in 210 BC. Later, local residents rebuilt it into the First Emperor’s Temple to commemorate his visit here. It is also the only temple in the country commemorating Emperor Qin Shi Huang. Inside the temple are the Front Hall Sun Lord Shrine, the Main Hall First Emperor Hall, the East Hall East Empress Dowager Palace, Deng Gong Shrine, bell tower and stage. The main hall has blue bricks and red pillars, and the eaves soar into the sky. The statues inside the hall have golden faces and crowns, and look majestic. Inside Deng Gong Shrine are the imperial tablet of Emperor Guangxu commending patriotic general Deng Shichang of the Beiyang Navy and the sitting coffin of Xu Fuchang, the first builder of the temple and the first old Taoist priest, who unearthed cultural relics in the Qing Dynasty.
