Flesh Body Treasure Hall

The Flesh Body Treasure Hall was built in the Zhenyuan period of the Tang Dynasty. The hall building has been destroyed and rebuilt many times. The Flesh Body Treasure Hall is the essence and sacred place of Jiuhua Mountain. It is also a must-visit place for tourists when they come to Jiuhua Mountain. Here lies the physical body of the eminent monk Jin Qiaojue (Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva). According to Buddhist teachings, after Jin Qiaojue passed away, his physical body was placed in a vat for encoffining. Three years later, the monks built a pagoda around the vat and then built a hall on the foundation of the pagoda. This hall with a pagoda in the hall, a vat in the pagoda, and a physical body in the vat is the Flesh Body Treasure Hall. When pilgrims come here, in addition to burning incense, they will also enter the hall and circumambulate the pagoda clockwise to pray for blessings. The number of circumambulations is an odd number.
