Foding Mountain is located on the north side of Putuo Mountain Island and is a high peak on Putuo Mountain. Huiji Temple on the mountain is one of the three major temples in Putuo. On Xiangyun Road, believers who worship the mountain by taking three steps and one bow can often be seen. You will also pass the stone inscription of ‘Buddhist Kingdom by the Sea’.
Tourists can walk up the mountain along Xiangyun Road next to Fayu Temple. It takes about 45 minutes to reach the top. If you want to save effort, you can also take the cableway (one-way 40 yuan, round trip 70 yuan). After going up a short distance, you can reach Huiji Temple on the top. Taking the cableway up the mountain and then walking down is a good choice. Huiji Temple on the mountain is the key attraction for most tourists who come to Foding Mountain. In addition to the large scale of the temple building, it is said that the Zhusheng Empress in the temple helps people realize their childbearing wishes, attracting many people to worship and pray here.
