The Bayu Folk Culture Village is located in Lianglu Town, Yubei District, Chongqing, covering an area of 5 hectares. The main attractions within the village include one museum, four courtyards, one temple, and one archway. The Bayu Folk Museum houses over 1000 pieces of Chinese folk handicrafts, clothing, and other daily necessities, among which are more than 250 wood carving works featuring folk craft characteristics from the late Qing Dynasty to the early Republic of China in the Bayu area, including family shrines, hanging plaques, carved wooden beds, tables, chairs, and desks.
The entire tourist area is composed of three courtyards, one temple, and one archway as the main attractions, complemented by a suspension bridge, square, lake, farmhouses, curved corridor tea garden, and well-arranged local farmhouses and agricultural machinery exhibitions, allowing visitors to personally experience traditional Bayu folk customs and the production process of handicraft workshops. It serves as a base for traditional education and patriotism education for young people. This place, named a ‘village’, is a perfectly fitting and ingenious concept. From afar, one can see several elegant and retro buildings, a lush forest, several vibrant flower beds, and crisscrossing paths, presenting a rural landscape. Stepping into the gate of Bayu Culture Village in Chongqing from the skyscrapers and bustling city, one can instantly feel a different mood from the urban environment. The distinctive Bayu Folk Museum displays thousands of folk handicrafts, clothing, and other daily necessities from the Qing Dynasty period, as well as more than 200 wood carving figures carved by Jiang Fengming based on ‘Water Margin’ and ‘Romance of the Three Kingdoms’. What attracts tourists the most are over 40 carved large beds from the late Qing Dynasty, with a six-column, five-eave, fully gold-carved large bed being one of the representatives. Its rich content and exquisite carvings are like a folk customs painting of the Bayu area. In the folk village, one can see various buildings scattered around to enrich the scenery, such as the tall and majestic Jie Xiao archway built during the Qing Dynasty, the 100-meter-long suspension bridge spanning the water surface connecting the gate and the archway, the ‘Tai Shan Shi Gan Dang’ built beside the main road to suppress evil, and the character warehouse that embodies respect for cultural knowledge by centrally processing discarded paper and pen. In the lake covering more than ten acres, visitors can fish various species of fish and have them processed and eaten directly. There are also various entertainment facilities for tourists to enjoy, and a 3000-square-meter square for visitors to appreciate pigeons, allowing guests to fully enjoy the pleasure of returning to simplicity.
