The former site of the British Consulate in Ningbo is located in Jiangbei District, Ningbo City. It was completed in 1880 (the sixth year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty). After the signing of the unequal Treaty of Nanjing between China and Britain, Ningbo was opened as one of the ‘five trading ports’. The area along the north bank of the river was designated as a trading and residential area for foreigners.

The British dispatched consuls and built the British Consulate. Later, due to the small number of British people in Ningbo, overseas Chinese affairs were concurrently managed by the British Consulate in Shanghai. In June 1934, the British Consulate in Ningbo was abolished. John then transferred the house at a price to the then Yin County Government as a relief institute. Opening hours: Currently not open to the public.

The specific business status is subject to the opening situation on that day.
