The German police station in Qingdao, also known as the police office and the German patrol yamen, was built in 1904 and completed in 1905. It features German architectural style of the Renaissance period and European medieval church architectural style. The light yellow wall surface, steep red tile roof, and dotted with protruding gable walls and a towering clock tower. The building has an L-shaped plan.
The main entrance is located at the southeast corner. The main body has two floors and is 16.5 meters high. It is a mixed structure of brick, wood and steel. The facade adopts an asymmetrical design method with the east high and the west low. The center of the composition is the square six-story tower at the southeast corner, which is 30 meters high and can be used for timekeeping and observation. The four corners of the tower are inlaid with red brick corner decorations. At the upper end, a complex curved gable roof in the shape of a pointed top is erected on all four sides in combination with the roof ridge, and exposed brick patterns are attached as decorations. The top is covered with a red tile tower top in the shape of a spire. The bottom is equipped with a rough stone plinth. Others adopt the style of a large sloping roof, which is high, steep and changeable, and covered with red cylindrical tiles. The southeast part protrudes outward and is topped with a tower-shaped pointed gable. The facade is in the form of unequal squares built with exposed bricks in many places, imitating the decorative style of ‘half-timbered’. The design effect of using embossed red bricks to border around doors and windows and contrasting with the beige wall surface gives people a relaxed and bright impression. The indoor rooms are about 4 meters high. The corridor is paved with various mosaic puzzles. There are granite stairs and wood-carved flower railings.
