Located at the eastern foot of Gem Mountain in Hangzhou, it is a brick and wood structure house with a sloped roof and foreign tiles. Due to the signing of the Treaty of Shimonoseki, Hangzhou became an open commercial port, and Japan established a consulate here. Later, two Western-style houses were built. After the liberation, only the main building of the consulate remains. Gem Mountain extends here and suddenly stops, and Hangzhou people call this place ‘Shi Ta Er Tou’, which can be described as a watchtower. It is surrounded by mountains on three sides and overlooks the city on one side, which can be described as watchful and menacing. Currently, this place is used as the office of the Zhejiang Tourism Bureau and is not open to the public.
