The Union Building of Mercantile Bank of India, London and China was originally known as the ‘Union House’. It has street numbers on both Zhongshan East 1st Road and Guangdong Road. There are three numbers: the street number on the Bund is 3 Zhongshan East 1st Road; the stone inscription number is 4 Zhongshan East 1st Road; the street number on Guangdong Road is 17 Guangdong Road, and the nameplate is THREE ON THE BUND.

The main entrance is on Guangdong Road. The Union Building at 4 Zhongshan East 1st Road is now privately invested by Jardine Cycle & Carriage of Singapore. Originally named the Union Building and owned by the Mercantile Bank of India, London and China, it is therefore called the Mercantile Bank Building. The building was completed in 1916. The opening hours are subject to the business status on the day.
