Yonghexiang Grocery Store, which once stood on South Zhongshan Road, was constructed in 1929. Over time, the property changed hands multiple times before being acquired by Xu Hesun, the proprietor of Shanghai Seymour Photo Studio. Xu, a long-time Shanghai resident, rented out his Hangzhou property to others. From 1942 to 1951, the building was home to Yonghexiang Grocery Store. After lying vacant for three years, in 1955, Xu Hesun sold the property to Ge Jinlai and Yao Miaozhen, who then operated the Xingye Hosiery Knitting Machinery Factory there.
