Fugai Mountain

Fugai Mountain is located at the border between Zhejiang and Fujian provinces, 9 kilometers south of Erba Town in Jiangshan City. The mountain rocks resemble a lid covering the jungle, making it a place to truly experience the extraordinary craftsmanship of nature.

If you are interested in exploring lesser-known mountains, Fugai Mountain is a must-visit when in Jiangshan. One of the interesting ways to explore Fugai Mountain is by navigating through its caves, which vary in size and wind through the natural terrain, offering a challenging and adventurous experience.

Another feature of Fugai Mountain is that it spans across three provinces: Zhejiang, Fujian, and Jiangxi. From the summit, one can overlook the junction of these provinces and, if lucky, witness a sea of clouds. There are no cable cars or similar transportation on the mountain; visitors must hike the entire way. There are two paths to the top: an adventurous route (cave exploration) and a staircase route. These two paths are intertwined, with staircases available next to almost every cave, allowing visitors to choose freely. Of course, the adventurous route offers a more magical experience of Fugai Mountain.

A notable attraction within the mountain is the Fugai Stone, which gives the mountain its name. Local legends say it resembles an official’s hat and has been worshipped for a long time. The maze under Fugai Stone, with its narrow paths, is quite challenging and popular among visitors. The Guanyin Stone, located at a higher elevation, is also one of the top attractions in the mountain and appears more vivid when viewed from below. From the higher points of Fugai Mountain, one can take in the scenery of both Zhejiang and Fujian. The thatched cottage at the end of the scenic area offers a panoramic view of three provinces. The transportation to Fugai Mountain is not convenient; buses only reach the base of the mountain. The ticket office is halfway up the mountain, requiring about a 30-minute walk from the base. Several scenic spots in Jiangshan, including Fugai Mountain, Qingyang Village, Jianglang Mountain, and Erba, are suitable for a self-driving or chartered vehicle tour over one or two days. The road to Fugai Mountain passes through the important checkpoint of Xiangxia Ancient Road, Fengling Pass, which is worth a brief stop. The overgrown checkpoint exudes a sense of history.

The entire area is open from January 1st to December 31st, 08:00-17:00.
